Introduction

The Department of Biochemistry at PGICH was set up when the Institute was established as a centre of national importance for Paediatric teaching, research and patient care in 2015. Currently Department of Biochemistry, PGICH is providing state of the art laboratory testing facilities 24hrs for all routine biochemistry, specialised immunoassays including thyroid profile, reproductive profile,cardiac profile, Covid Profile including CRP, DDimer, PCT, IL6, covid Antibodies (both natural and vaccine related immunity), immunoglobulins, complete iron profiling, therapeutic drug monitoring, diabetic profile including HbA1c and specialised tests including Anti TTG.

Future Plans

  • Setting up Metabolic laboratory with facility of inborn errors of metabolic (IEM) disorders screening and diagnosis.
  • Providing the facility of Electrophoresis and densitometry reporting.
  • To develop a Molecular Biochemistry laboratory to perform analyses on the nucleic acids ( DNA or RNA )for genetic diseases diagnosis.
  • To provide conducive environment for interdisciplinary research program and various project works.
  • To start fellowship and certificate courses in Clinical Paediatric Biochemistry
  • To start MD, DNB, PHD courses in future.
